Grass Finished Hogget
The meat from our small flock of Ryeland Hogget sits nicely between lamb and mutton.
Hogget is a sheep that has matured naturally on rich meadow grasses for anything between 1 - 2 years of age.
Producing meat which has been finished slowly on rich pastures are highly nutritious. Hogget meat provides high levels of omega 3 fatty acids as well as many other essential vitamins and minerals, including selenium, zinc, B12 and iron.
Hogget meat is darker and more evolved than lamb, but still so tender, but a lot more flavoursome.
Cooking Hogget is just as you would cook lamb.
It truly is a fantastic, flavoursome meat from sheep who have lived naturally and stress free on our fields of Unthank.
Ryeland sheep are one of the oldest English breeds going, well known for producing excellent quality meat and is much sought after by butchers, top chefs, restaurants and hotels.
Now ready to pre order for Easter.
